Introduction
The Training Team regularly explore new ways of delivering training material. This site has been set up to showcase some of the material we have been developing.
- 1) At Sea Boarding Decision - Branching Scenarios Demo
1) At Sea Boarding Decision - Branching Scenarios Demo
This is an example of a branching interactive video scenario based on assessment and boarding approach of a fishing vessel at sea
- 2) Vessel Inspection Demo
2) Vessel Inspection Demo
This is an activity extracted from the MEO working from home programme, which was developed in response to COVID-19 to allow interactive learning at home in the absence of practical training and face to face coursesSCENARIO (continues in Week 7 - you have two weeks to complete this scenario)
This week you will be working through an over 12m vessel landing inspection, with pre-inspection checks and post-inspection activities to complete.
This scenario has been designed for you to work through on the LMS through the various stages of this inspection, which are split below into sections 1, 2 and 3. There are some interactive questions within each section, which you can answer and you will get live feedback from the LMS. Some of the questions require more in depth free text answers, which will be reviewed by your mentor once you have completed the scenario. To allow this to happen, as you work through the series of slides within each section, write in your answers to all of the questions, and at the end of each pack of slides you should see an option to export the text from each section, save it to your computer and upload them all together at the end of the scenario. You should see a button like this:
We would also like you to record this inspection in your pocket notebook, learning from the material in the Notebook Management section of Unit 6. Please use your training pocket notebook if you have one, if not just write notes in a notepad/blank paper. You will be required to submit a copy of this at the end of the scenario. Timings have been provided throughout to give you a timeline. Please refer to Unit 6 if required for guidance on notebook management.
Please discuss the scenario with your training mentor if you have any questions as you are working through it, and once you have completed it for feedback on the text answers.
As a reminder, this is not being graded, and is intended to be a learning exercise, but please try and answer to the best of your ability and answer the questions before you move on to the next slides/sections. Good luck!
- 3) RBS Inspection Demo
3) RBS Inspection Demo
This is an activity extracted from the MEO working from home programme, which was developed in response to COVID-19 to allow interactive learning at home in the absence of practical training and face to face courses
SCENARIO - RBS Inspection 2
RBS inspection (Fish wholesaler / processor)
This week you will be working through another RBS inspection, however the focus is on a different type of premises to that covered in the Week 8 scenario.
This scenario has been designed for you to work through on the LMS and is split into 7 sections, hopefully having smaller sections will alleviate some of the issues people have found with losing work if LMS times out but please feedback to your mentor if this is still an issue.
There are some interactive questions within each section, which you can answer and you will get live feedback from the LMS. Some of the questions require more in depth free text answers, which will be reviewed by your mentor once you have completed the scenario. At the end of each section that contains free text answers you should see an option to export the text from each section , as indicated by the icon below:
save the documents to your computer and upload them all together at the end of the scenario.
You are NOT required to complete a notebook entry this week
